Background Information

 

‘Soul tools for Modern Woman’ Retreats are facilitated by Dr Arien van der Merwe assisted by Mmatshilo Motsei and other therapists. Using deep relaxation exercises, painting/drawing, music, story telling, movement and meditation, the retreat is designed to create a quiet, loving and caring space for women to rest, reflect and rejuvenate. By participating in a circle of love and delightful attention, women find the heart of their magnificence.

 

Dr Arien van der Merwe is a medical doctor, author, health & wellness coach, Fellow of Royal Society of Public Health and Member of the International Stress Management Association. She works as a mind-body facilitator, spiritual teacher, health coach and skills development facilitator in the field of health and wellness. She is well known for her integrative approach in discovering blockages in the human energy system which leads to physical, emotional and spiritual disease.

 

Ms Motsei, who manages Waterdown Health Farm & Spa, is a psychology graduate, Afrikan spiritualist, author and poet who spent the past two decades working as a counselor, trainer and consultant working mainly on personal empowerment for women across Afrika, North America and Europe. As part of her own healing process, Ms Motsei published a book titled Hearing Visions Seeing Voices in 2004.

About the venue:

 

Waterdown Health Farm and Spa is an integrative health and healing facility tucked away in a valley on a 22 hectare farm in Mpumalanga. About 3.5 km from the main road between Nelspruit and White River surrounded by abundant birdlife, rocks and a stream running through it, Waterdown is a hidden sanctuary that provides an opportunity to step back from work and reconnect with the heartbeat of the Earth. Integrating the healing power of nature, art, ritual, healthy eating, holistic massage, meditation and counseling, Waterdown seeks to find a deeper meaning of health that goes beyond the physical.

Story telling. A woman’s journey: Mmatshilo.

 

Video to illustrate left and right brain function from the personal experience of a neuroscientist who recovered after a stroke.

Preparing and opening your mind to release cell memories, using the body to connect you to your mind, emotions and soul essence. Deep relaxation practice: various techniques and experiences.

 

Finding your personal symbol, drawing & painting it, then anchoring it in your subconscious anchor point inside the body.

 

Time for silence and journaling. Contemplation and reflection, using specific topics and guided focus areas.
